Our entryway played a large part in how I styled our first floor because it set a tone – in style and color scheme.

Wallpaper

The decor in this space was driven by a gorgeous leafy wallpaper. The wallpaper features large floral pattern in bronzy brown color. But the main draw is the rich blue background. I love this blue. I absolutely love this blue. And I love how bold this wallpaper is. To me it is as much contemporary as it is traditional.

I didn’t overthink things here. I went with my gut. I loved the paper and so, I just went with it – as simple as that. Too many times too often I have found myself overthinking decor – and who can blame me? There are endless options when it comes to everything in home decor. I wanted to try something new this time around. I wanted to just go with the flow.

From here I analyzed the space. What did we need here to make the space functional. In selecting the few furnishings I kept in mind a modern style and being practical.

As far as materials:

I chose acrylic for the table and brass for the wall mounted mirror.

Layered rugs frame the space here, with the one atop being washable! – I mean, in the entryway, this is genius! So…sure, step right in…

Glass trays in varying sizes and front print hold our keys, wallets, sunglasses – all the little things we hold in our hands when we set foot in the house.

A coat rack and canvas tote in black take care of the B&W elements in the room. (This trendy canvas tote hides our mail!)

I went with a triad color palette for this space, celebrating red-purple and yellow-orange through various objects – the floral arrangement, glass trays, books, and wall art.

This space is lively now with color, drawing you inside the house. It lifts the mood. It does it job well – to welcome us home.

I am so glad to have taken a chance with this wallpaper. It led me to love and appreciate color, something completely new for me, a lover of all things neutral. And I’m so pleased with its turnout.
